Well, it's over

58-7 in the Cats' first real test of the season.

3rd quarter over

David = bored. I think ABC's audience share is about 0 at this point. Time to commence the wound licking.

And the inevitable happens

Stefan Demos' 8th punt of the game is blocked by Larry Grant. OSU takes over at the 1 and plunges
in on the next play. There was a bad snap on the extra point and the attempt failed. OSU 58, NU 7.

OSU 52, NU 7

On a 3rd and 15, Boeckman goes up top to Ray Small, who is covered by...a bunch of hash marks and
open field. Seriously, there wasn't an NU defender within 15 yards.

Excitement!!!

Stephen Simmons took the ball at the one-yard line, ran into two of his blockers at about the 20,
and then proceeded to take it down the right sideline for 99 yards and a touchdown. And Matt Baker
called it. For serious. OSU 45, NU 7

Start of the 3rd

The teams get ready to come out for 30 minutes of scrimmage in a game long since over. Some 1st
half tallies: NU has had the ball five minutes longer than OSU and run one more play, but is
trailing 262-20 in yards. The Cats have -17 yards on the ground and Bacher is 8 for 18 for 30 yards
and a pick. The Cats also lead the Buckeyes in penalties and turnovers.

OSU 45, NU 0

A field goal for a change: Ryan Pretorius is good from 40. See if his leg doesn't fall off from all
these extra points and field goals. That's 9 first-half points for the kicker...but who's counting?

The ceasefire is over

After going scoreless for a whopping 10:33, Chris Wells hurdled a downed Cats defender and exploded
into the end zone from 36 yards out. OSU 42, NU 0.

OSU 35, NU 0

OSU back to their old tricks. Boeckman. Play action. Robiskie. Touchdown. Chris is only on his
second comped McFlurry and already the Buckeyes have bucked their trend of slow first halves. Food
for thought: Ohio State has only had the ball for 4:20 and is outgaining NU 169-27.

End of the first quarter

So things have settled down a little bit at the Horseshoe. Ohio State has slowed its torrid scoring
pace and NU even has a turnover to hang its hat on: McManis got his hands on a jumpball at the 2
and recorded his first pick of the season. But Bacher has taken a number of big hits and even
turned the wrong way on a handoff to Conteh. Punt time, I might have an update for you very soon...

Not even safe on offense...

Bacher got stripped by a blindside blitzer. Ohio State's Vernon Gholston recovered the fumble and
sauntered in from 25 yards out. OSU 28, NU 0...5:26 left in the FIRST QUARTER.

OSU 21, NU 0

Maurice Wells plunges in from 3 yards out with 7:25 left in the opening quarter. If they stay on
this pace, the final would be 168-0.

Georgia Tech vs. Cumberland

Boeckman to Robiskie again. This time 28 yards and this time over Battle's head. In 1916, Georgia
Tech beat Cumberland 222-0...just sayin'.

OSU 7, NU 0

70 seconds in and Ohio State has the lead. After Deante Battle caused a fumble that the Buckeyes
recovered, Todd Boeckman went up top to Brian-Robiskie on a play action fake. Paydirt.

Predictions

Here they are, from our minds to your computer screens (if anyone is actually reading):
Matt: OSU 42-14
Chris: OSU 38-17
David: OSU 38-10

Nevermind

Just got word from the field: Sutton is a no-go today. Exactly how much did Northwestern lose in
that Nevada win?

Northwestern vs. Ohio State - Pre-Game

Tyrell Sutton, who sat out last week's potentially program-deflating loss to Duke, seems to be
holding up well through the pre-game calisthenics the Wildcats are doing. But I imagine it gets a
bit harder to move once James Laurinitis is hanging off of you.

Also, Jim Tressel and Pat Fitzgerald just concluded a quite lengthy chat at the 35-yard line.
Possible topics of conversation: proper upkeep of sweater vests and how much that bulky national
championship ring can throw off your left-to-right balance.
